MLB Rumors: St. Louis Cardinals & Oakland Athletics Talking Blockbuster

According to Derrick Gould, the Cardinals are making a big push to improve their rotation before the deadline passes. One player who is now linked to them because of this is A's pitcher Frankie Montas.

Montas' name has been in the rumor mill since Oakland began their fire sale this offseason. He has yet to be moved, but that is expected to finally change before the deadline passes. St. Louis adding him would be big for them, as it would give them another strong pitcher near the top of their rotation.

In 19 starts this season, Montas sports a 4-9 record, but that is because he is a victim of playing for a horrendous club in Oakland. That is made apparent by his solid 3.18 ERA.
