MLB Rumors: Red Sox Have EIGHT Players Who Could Hit Trade Market
"It’s bad. It’s really bad right now. The brand of baseball we’re playing is awful." Those are the damning words of Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora, as per Masslive.com. And he couldn't be more correct.
After a 3-game sweep at home at the hands of the division rival Toronto Blue Jays—including a 28-5 embarrassment—the Red Sox have lost 9 of their last 10 games, and are three back of a Wild Card spot. If things don't change within the next week, a whole lot of players could be on the move.
The BoSox have no less than EIGHT impending free agents, and the inclination for chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom to move a bunch of them could be high.

The list of players who might not be back next season, either because of their impending free agency, or due to a trade in the next eight days, is as follows:
- Xander Bogaerts
- JD Martinez
- Nathan Eovaldi
- Christian Vázquez
- Kike Hernández
- Michael Wacha
- Rich Hill
- Matt Strahm
Teams would certainly be scrambling to put together offers for the likes of the first five players on that list, at least. Bogaerts, however, who can opt out of his contract after the season to become a free agent, can veto any trade.
As Ken Rosenthal says, for the Red Sox right now, "it might be getting dire."
