MLB Rumors: Rangers To Trade All-Star Pitcher
While speaking with Robert Murray, Rangers pitcher Martin Perez said that he has yet to start extension talks with the team. If this does not change, the pending UFA and 2022 All-Star will certainly be moved before the deadline passes.
At this juncture of the campaign, the Rangers are more likely to miss the playoffs than make them. Although they went on a shopping spree this offseason, there is still more work to be done for them to become contenders. Perez has been excellent for them, but if he does not sign an extension, the Rangers need to take advantage of his maximized trade value.
In 18 starts this season, Perez sports a 7-2 record to go along with a 2.68 ERA. Plenty of teams will pursue the veteran starter if he's made available at the deadline.
