MLB Rumors: New York Yankees & Oakland Athletics Trade Talks Heating Up
According to Andy Martino, the Yankees have now made A's pitcher Frankie Montas their primary trade target. This news is in response to the team losing out on the Luis Castillo sweepstakes.
A Montas trade is coming before the deadline passes. Yet, at this juncture, it's anyone's guess where he will end up, as several teams are expressing interest. The A's have been shopping him since the offseason, but he has yet to find a new home. Perhaps the Yankees will end up winning the sweepstakes from here.
In 19 games this season, Montas has a 4-9 record. Yet, don't let the losing record fool you - he's been quite strong when called upon. This is made clear by his solid 3.19 ERA. The Yankees could use somebody like him near the top half of their rotation.
