MLB Rumors: New York Yankees & Kansas City Royals Trade Talks Heating Up

The Yankees have been linked to Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi for a good portion of this season. It appears that trade talks are starting to heat up between the two teams now, as Mark Feinsand noted that the Yankees are "serious contenders" to land him.

The Yankees need a boost in their outfield, so it makes sense that they are stepping up their efforts to land Benintendi. The 27-year-old was named an All-Star this season, and it's easy to see why. In 89 games thus far, he has three home runs, 39 RBIs, and a very good .318 batting average. Adding that kind of consistency to their lineup would be massive for the playoffs.

It will be intriguing to see if the Yankees can acquire the former Red Sox from here.
