MLB Rumors: New York Mets & Chicago Cubs Talking Blockbuster
According to Pat Ragazzo, the Cubs are having trade talks that could lead to both Willson Contreras and David Robertson being moved to the Mets.
The Cubs are expected to be one of the biggest sellers this August because they are once again at the bottom of the standings. The Mets, on the other hand, are aiming to build a championship caliber roster, so it makes sense that both Contreras and Robertson are on their radar.
Contreras has had a strong season for the Cubs and would be a big addition for the Mets if acquired. In 82 games, the All-Star catcher has 14 home runs, 37 RBIs, and a .258 batting average. Robertson, on the other hand, has been quite solid himself. In 35 games this campaign, he sports a 3-0 record and a 1.83 ERA.
