MLB Rumors: Josh Bell Has A Preferred Destination

Washington Nationals first baseman Josh Bell is one of the most popular names on the trade market as we come down to the wire, with many teams seeking his power-hitting services.

But according to MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal, Bell actually has a stated preference of where he'd like to be dealt, and that's to his home state of Texas, but specifically to the contending Houston Astros.

Bell is a native of Irving, Texas, to be exact (a suburb of Dallas), and, as noted by Rosenthal, Bell "told me over the weekend that he wouldn’t mind a trade to Houston. Bell and his wife, Lia, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Noa, in December. Houston is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from Dallas, and Bell’s parents would be in a better position to help with the baby if he spent the final few months of the season with the Astros."

The 29-year-old former All-Star is having a very productive season with the Nats, batting .305 with an .887 OPS, along with 14 HR and 57 RBIs.

For their part, the Astros have strong interest in Bell as well, as their own first baseman Yuli Gurriel is having a dreadful season.

This one could be a no-brainer, if the Astros can meet the Nationals' asking price.
