MLB Rumors: Brewers Make All-Star Closer Available For Trade
He is virtually invincible, a closer that is 26 for 27 in save chances this season, with a 1.88 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP with a ridiculous 15.4 strikeouts per nine innings. But what's this? The Milwaukee Brewers, in first place in the NL Central, are willing to make Josh Hader available in trade talks?
"The Brewers have informed teams they are willing to listen to offers for All-Star closer Josh Hader." That's the word from USA Today's Bob Nightengale. He says the Brewers, who certainly still "love" Hader, feel that they can trade the closer, who has just another year left before free agency, "and still win the NL Central."
Hader was named an All-Star once again, which, of course, was a no-brainer.

Brewers director of media relations Mike Vassallo reports that Hader becomes the first relief pitcher in Milwaukee franchise history to make four Mid-Summer Classics. Only Dan Plesac also had three.
But the Hader availability is not where it ends. Even though one would be hard-pressed to say that the Brewers are in "sell mode" while leading the division, "according to rival executives," says Nightengale, "they are also listening on Gold Glove second baseman Kolten Wong and catcher Omar Narvaez."
