Mets Sign Infielder
The Mets have signed Deven Marrero to a minor league contract and has begun his stint with the organization with Triple-A Syracuse.
Marrero is a former first-round pick who is trying to cement himself as a full-time MLB player. He spent the 2021 season with the Marlins, where he appeared in 10 games for the major league squad. During them, he had one home run to go along with a .188 batting average.
Marrero has had trouble staying in the majors when given the chance to play in them. In six MLB season, he has played in 173 contests between the Red Sox, Diamondbacks, and Marlins. He will now be aiming to impress the Mets in hopes of landing a call-up. It will be interesting to see if he can get promoted and develop into a solid depth piece for them moving forward.
