Mets Ace Dominates Again; On Track for End of Month Return

Jacob deGrom gave up one unearned run over four innings in his third minor league rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Syracuse.

The thirty-four year old allowed three hits, one walk, and struck out four in a very efficient 42-pitch outing against the Marlins Triple-A affiliate.

The rehabbing ace has pitched 8.2 total minor league innings, during his rehab assignment, striking out 15 and not allowing an earned run.

If everything continues to progress well, deGrom seems on track to return to the Mets' rotation before the end of July. He has yet to make his 2022 MLB season debut.

In 92 innings pitched last season, deGrom held a ridiculous 1.08 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 146 strikeouts. The Mets have managed quite well without their ace this season, posting a 56-34 record and sitting in first place in the NL East, two-and-a-half games up on the Braves.

Although it's a long-shot, a fully healthy Mets rotation would feature Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Carlos Carrasco, Chris Bassitt, Taijuan Walker, or David Peterson. That's just silly.
