The left-hander has been out since the middle of May due to a forearm strain. Luzardo was able to make it through a live batting practice session without issue this past Tuesday and is slowly progressing towards a return to the Marlins' rotation.
He'll likely need several rehab appearances first, in order to build up his stamina again, but there is a good chance that the twenty-four year old returns to the big leagues later this month.
The former top prospect was having a decent season before going down, posting a 4.03 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a strong 41 strikeouts in 29 innings.
The Marlins are currently 43-46, four-and-a-half games back of the NL Wild Card held by the Cardinals.
