Mariners' Player Goes on Restricted List; Recall Infielder

The Mariners have placed first baseman Carlos Santana on the restricted list. Santana reportedly had to leave the Mariners due to a family emergency. It is not yet clear whether he will rejoin the club prior to the All-Star Break.

Infielder Kevin Padlo has been recalled to fill in during Santana's absence.

Since joining the Mariners, Santana and the club have gone 11-1 and the thrity-six year old has batted .244, with three home runs, six RBIs, and nine walks.

Kevin Padlo has been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. The twenty-six year old has hit .245, with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs in 184 at-bats at the minor league level this season. He'll provide infield depth for the Mariners while Santana is away.

The Mariners are currently 48-42, sitting in second in the AL West, 11 games back of the Houston Astros.
