Former Dodger Power-Hitting Prospect Gets Waived By Korean Team

After heading into last season as the Los Angeles Dodgers' No. 11 prospect—a 4th round draft pick with a minor league MVP honor on his resume—D.J. Peters' rookie season did not go as planned.

He hit just .192 with the Dodgers in 18 games, then was claimed on waivers by the Texas Rangers, where he still couldn't crack the Mendoza Line, at .198. He did display his power stroke, however, with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in just 52 games.

Peters signed as a free agent with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) this season, but after a .228 start, with a .701 OPS with 13 home runs, and a poor showing with the glove in center field as well, the KBO team has decided to waive the 26-year-old.

He had signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with Lotte.

Peters may look to find a minor-league deal somewhere, as he still boasts very good power metrics as well as a good throwing arm and speed.
