Dodgers Lose Key Player To Broken Foot

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts just lost an important, versatile part of his lineup, with the announcement that outfielder/infielder Chris Taylor is out indefinitely.

Taylor fouled a ball off his foot on the weekend, and CT scan results Tuesday night showed a small fracture. There is currently no timetable for his return.

And to add insult to injury, the news came down on Chris Taylor Bobblehead night at the ballpark.

“Not what I was hoping for, obviously,” Taylor said on the SportsNet LA pregame show. “It was definitely a surprise to me, but it showed a small fracture there and it’s going to be a little longer than initially expected.”

“Hopefully it won’t be more than a few weeks," said Roberts.

The 31-year-old Taylor signed a 4-year, $60 million contract extension just prior to the lockout. He's batting .238 with a .728 OPS, 6 home runs, 6 stolen bases and 27 RBIs. It's his 7th year with the Dodgers, and he made his first All-Star team last year.
