Diamondbacks Place Key Reliever on IL
As a possible trade candidate, the timing couldn't be worse for the Arizona Diamondbacks to lose reliever Ian Kennedy to the injured list.
The #Dbacks recalled RHP Keynan Middleton from Triple-A Reno and placed RHP Ian Kennedy on the 15-day injured list (right calf inflammation).

Right calf inflammation will force Kennedy to the shelf, and his return timeline is unknown. Being on an expiring contract, and with every contender always looking for bullpen help, the former closer was certainly one of the veterans the rebuilding D-Backs would have been able to secure a return for.
Ian Kennedy and several Dbacks vets are going on the DL at the most inopportune time. I don't mean to seem insensitive since any time is the worst, but some of these they can potentially get a solid return in a trade. Let's hope for a full and quick recovery regardless!

The 37-year-old has 60 saves in the last 3+ seasons for several teams, and will be missed in the D-Backs' pen. Reliever Keynan Middleton has been recalled to replace Kennedy on the roster.
