Diamondbacks Claim Infielder Off Waivers
Sergio Alcantara is once again a member of the Diamondbacks. The club has claimed him off of waivers from the Padres.
Alcantara began the season with the Diamondbacks, where he appeared in 22 games for the team. Yet, he would later be placed on waivers and then claimed by the Padres. Now, Alcantara is heading back to Arizona in hopes of maintaining his spot in the majors from here.
Alcantara will once again provide the Diamondbacks with strong versatility. He is what you would call a utility player, as he can play shortstop, second base, and third base if needed. In 144 career games between the Tigers, Cubs, Diamondbacks, and Padres, he has seven home runs, 28 RBIs, and a .188 batting average.
