Cubs Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Cubs have designated Matt Swarmer for assignment. 

Swarmer is in his first major league season with the Cubs. In 11 games, the rookie has a 2-3 record to go along with a 5.03 ERA. Overall, with numbers like those, it's fair to say that he had his struggles with Chicago. Thus, perhaps this is a move we could have predicted.

The Cubs will now have until the end of the week to either place Swarmer on waivers or trade him. Time will tell if another team wants to take a chance on the 28-year-old from here.
