Blue Jays Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The Blue Jays have designated Sergio Romo for assignment.
The Blue Jays signed Romo last month after he was released by the Mariners. In six games as a Blue Jay, the 39-year-old had a 0-1 record to go along with a 4.91 ERA. That wasn't enough for him to keep his spot on their 40-man roster, so now Toronto will have to either trade or place him on waivers before the end of the week.
Romo is what you would call a grizzled veteran, so teams in need of some bullpen help could give him a shot. In 821 career games, he has a 42-36 record, 3.21 ERA, and 137 saves. With that, he is a one-time All-Star and three-time World Series champ.
