Alvarez was reportedly scheduled to take batting practice on the field at Minute Maid Park again on Wednesday, and it sounds like as long as everything went well there that he would return to the Astros' lineup on Thursday.
The twenty-five-year-old has taken his game to another level this season, batting .306/.653/.1.058, with 26 home runs, 60 RBIs, and 57 runs scored.
Alvarez has not played a game since July 09.
He'll likely reclaim his spot in the lineup, batting third, upon his return.
