After 14-Strikeout Performance, Starter Called Up For Angels
After starting the season on a rollercoaster ride that went from the highs of a no-hitter to the lows of a demotion to the minors just over a month later, Reid Detmers is getting another chance to reclaim his spot in the Los Angeles Angels rotation.
A dominant 6-inning, 14-strikeout performance in his only start back at Triple-A will do that.
After he was demoted on June 21st, Detmers did some experimenting on what had gone wrong during his month-long slide after his no-hitter on May 10th.
“We went back and looked at some video and saw this little tweak and mechanics that somehow formed over the past offseason, I guess,” Detmers said. “And so we fixed that. Got back to normal. And then once I did that, the slider came back. Everything is right where I need it to be.”
Right back, indeed.

He's back, and he'll make his 13th start of the season today on his 23rd birthday. Overall, he has a 4.66 ERA with a strong 1.10 WHIP; he's only allowed 43 hits in 58 innings with the Angels this season.
