White Sox Designate DH For Assignment
The Chicago White Sox have designated Yermin Mercedes for assignment.
Mercedes' time with the White Sox has been rather interesting, to say the least. The most notable moment off-the-field that occurred was when he announced his retirement through social media but then quickly took it back. Since then, he has not been able to maintain a spot in the majors. In fact, he hasn't made an appearance this season, either.
Yet, it doesn't seem out of the question that another team could take a chance on Mercedes. In 69 career games with the ChiSox, he has seven home runs, 37 RBIs, and a .270 batting average. We will have to wait and see if a team claims him off waivers or acquires him via trade from here.
