Tigers Activate Two-Thirds Of Starting Outfield

It's been a tough two months to be a Detroit Tigers outfielder. Between injuries and demotions, the team's outfield core has been decimated. It's starting to take shape now once again, however. The Tigers have reactivated Robbie Grossman, who played Friday night, and Victor Reyes, who starts on Saturday. They got Austin Meadows back last week.

To make room, the Tigers optioned right-hander Elvin Rodriguez to Triple-A.

Reyes was off to a nice start to the season before he went down with a quad strain in mid-May. In just 11 games, Reyes was batting .292 with an .804 OPS before his injury. He can bring some speed and defense to center field.

Grossman returned Friday after a 10-day IL stint with neck spasms. And then, in true 2022 Tigers' outfielder style, proceeded to re-injure himself during the Tigers' 10-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night.

X-Rays were negative, though, and he's listed as day-to-day.

The Tigers are also counting the days until their outfield is occupied by baseball's No. 2 prospect, Riley Greene. He broke his foot during spring training, and is now rehabbing in Triple-A. His debut in the big leagues could be coming soon.
