The twenty-three year old has been crushing the ball at Triple-A Albuquerque this season, slashing a ridiculous .327/.395/.958, with 13 home runs, 43 RBIs, and three stolen bases in 208 plate appearances.

The Rockies number five prospect was acquired in the deal that sent Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals last season. Montero's stay in the majors might be short-lived as a result of Kris Bryant expected back this weekend, but it'll be interesting to see if he can replicate that minor league success at the major league level.
The move comes as a roster replacement to pitcher Chad Smith, who was sent down to Triple-A on Sunday as a result of MLB teams needing to reduce their pitching staffs from 14 to 13.
