Reds Call Up Catcher
The Cincinnati Reds have called up Chris Okey to their major league roster. This is in response to fellow catcher Tyler Stephenson fracturing his thumb.
Okey is now set to make his major league debut. The 27-year-old has spent many seasons in Cincinnati's minor league system, so he will be ecstatic to finally have his shot with the Reds. It will be intriguing to see how he responds to it.
Okey has had a pretty solid season with Triple-A Louisville this year, too. In 24 games, he has one home run, nine RBIs, and a .265 batting average. Let's see how much of this translates over to the majors from here.
