4 IP, 48 pitches/29 strikes 3H, 2ER, BB 2K
Patino will continue to build up his stamina and pitch count as he works towards a left oblique strain recovery. Rays hope he can rejoin the team's pitching staff in late June or early July.
The twenty-two year old has struggled in his young MLB career thus far, posting a 4.53 ERA, 1.40 WHIP with 95 strikeouts in 95 innings.
Luis Patino was acquired from the Padres in the deal that saw Blake Snell traded. At the time of the trade, Patino was the Padres' No. 3 prospect and the No. 23 in baseball overall. The right-handed pitcher has elite stuff, with a high 90's fastball, an elite slider and a developing changeup.
Really excited to monitor Luis Patino's development this season. The stuff plays. Zero concerns there.

How will the Rays use him? Is he capable of 6 IP starts? Will Tampa even use him as a traditional SP? pic.twitter.com/HBZyb6E7eD
The Rays' have a knack for successfully developing players so it will be interesting to see what they can do with Patino.
