Rangers Outfielder Designated For Assignment
After being demoted to Triple-A earlier this season, Willie Calhoun requested a trade from the Texas Rangers. Now, he could be another step closer to getting his wish of finding a new home, as he has been designated for assignment.
With this move, the Rangers now have a week to either trade Calhoun or place on him waivers. With this move, he might finally get the chance for the fresh start that he has been yearning for.
A former top prospect, Calhoun has had trouble reaching his potential in Texas. After a very good 21-home run campaign in just 83 games for the Rangers in 2019, he hasn't come close to replicating that kind of production. Yet, even with this being so, don't be surprised to see another club take a chance on him from here. There's no harm in doing so.
