Phillies Changing Things Up With Closer
While speaking with reporters, Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thompson announced that Corey Knebel is no longer the team's closer.
Knebel hasn't been necessarily bad this season, but it's fair to say he has had his struggles in the closer role. He leads the league with four blown saves. Perhaps utilizing him in a more familiar setup role will help him be a bit more reliable. In 26 games this season, Knebel has a 2-5 record to go along with a 3.24 ERA.
It will be intriguing to see what the Phillies do at the closer position from here. Don't be surprised to several relievers get some looks.
