Padres Release Pitcher
The San Diego Padres have released Yusmeiro Petit from his minor league contract.
Petit signed a minor league deal with the Padres in hopes of landing an eventual call-up to their major league squad. Yet, it became clear that the veteran reliever wasn't in the team's plans, so it makes sense that he has now opted out of his contract.
When looking at Petit's long MLB resume, it wouldn't be surprising to see another club take a chance on him. In 515 career games between the Marlins, Diamondbacks, Giants, Nationals, Angels, and Athletics, he has a 50-44 record and 3.93 ERA.
