MLB Slaps Major Suspensions On Mariners & Angels
We knew this was coming. After the most violent baseball brawl in ages, MLB has handed out some major suspensions, 12 in all. The featured bans include Seattle Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker getting 7 games, while Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin was suspended 10 games and injured Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon gets 5 games.
Winked gets a 7-spot for instigating the brawl and for fighting; Nevin gets his 10 for ordering his pitcher Andrew Wantz to intentionally throw at a batter with warnings in effect. Rendon’s five games will be served when he returns from the injured list (i.e. in 2023). He gets slapped for leaving the dugout while on the injured list. He’s also forbidden from sitting in the dugout for 7 games.
There are almost too many other suspensions to list, but here goes:

The incident was a wild one, and saw some real punches thrown. Most are blaming the umpires for not getting control of things before they got out of hand.
