MLB Rumors: Yankees Linked To Pirates Outfielder
According to Jon Heyman, the New York Yankees were one of the teams interested in Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds during the offseason. With the club having World Series aspirations, don't be surprised to see them pursue the All-Star again as we get closer to the deadline.
It will take a lot for the Pirates to trade Reynolds, however. The 27-year-old is the first true start that they have had in a long time, so the Yankees would need to give them a huge offer for them to consider it.
In 55 games this season Reynolds has 10 home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .249 batting average. He has struggled a bit more to hit for contact, but he is a young player coming off of his first All-Star season. Thus, there's reason to believe his average will go up. We will have to wait and see if the Yankees and Pirates end up pulling the trigger on this blockbuster.
