MLB Rumors: Yankees Andujar Demands Trade From New York

New York Yankees one-time top prospect Miguel Andujar has requested a trade from the ball club. Reports from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic have indicated the 2018 AL Rookie of the Year runner-up has approached management to inform them he wants out.

It's consistent at bats and playing time that has pissed off Andujar as he can't seem to find a regular position or spot in the lineup. As he's 27 years old, the prime of his career is passing him by so you can't really blame him for his desire to find a change of scenery.

So far this season Andujar is slashing .268/.279/.317 over 12 games and he's yet to hit a home run and has driven in three runs. It appears the latest trade demand came after the Yankees decided to option him to the minors on Friday.

It's been awhile since Andujar had his best season as his peak career moments came back in 2018 when he homered 27 times and almost drove in 100 runs. He was playing everyday and was able to get a feel for the bat and it showed. Unfortunately since his stellar rookie season where he burst onto the scene in the Bronx, it's been all downhill and a big part of this is due to injuries. Since 2018 Andujar has appeared in 90 games due to injuries and lack of production. Sounds like management isn't pleased and neither is the play; it's time for change and let's hope Yankees management is willing to accommodate the request.
