MLB Rumors: Marlins Heavily Pursuing Athletics Outfielder
According to Peter Gammons, the Miami Marlins are "pushing hard" to acquire Ramon Laureano from the Oakland Athletics.
The A's are currently having a fire sale, and Laureano's name has come up in the rumor mill because of it. The Marlins are in need of an upgrade at the center field position, so it makes sense that they are linked to Laureano. This is especially true with the team trying to catch up to their NL East rivals.
Since returning from his 80-game suspension, Laureano has two home runs, eight RBIs, and a .242 batting average. Although those numbers are not jaw-dropping, it will not be surprising at all to see his numbers go up as the year progresses. This is a player who has a 24-home run campaign on his resume.
Alas, let's see if the Marlins end up landing Laureano before the deadline passes.
