It's season-ending surgery on the shoulder for Murphy, despite his valiant attempts at rehab.
Injury update on Tom Murphy… he has decided to have surgery on his shoulder. Tried everything he could to come back but according to Servais it was time for him to shut it down. Really tough for Tom and a big loss given how much he means to the team.

He had tried everything he could to come back but manager Scott Servais said it was just time for him to shut it down, according to Mariners beat reporter Jen Mueller.
It's a tough break for Murphy, and a big loss for the Mariners. They will now continue to rely on Cal Raleigh as the starter. It's been a bit of a struggle for him at the plate, hitting .187, but he has shown some big power, with 9 homers and 19 RBIs.
