According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Franco is expected to miss about two weeks with the quad strain. But manager Kevin Cash is trying to play down the severity, saying he's "not overly concerned. Each player responds a little differently to how they (do) treatment and rest. Hopefully, Wander can turn it around pretty quick and start feeling better."
The 21-year-old felt “a little tug” in his right quad while turning first base on Monday night, and the Rays said, enough is enough, let's try to get this thing right.
Taylor Walls will mainly fill in at shortstop in Franco's absence.
