Dodgers Call Up Former All-Star Infielder

The Los Angeles Dodgers have called up former All-Star and 9-year major league veteran infielder Jake Lamb. The move comes in advance of the date at which Lamb would have been able to opt out of his minor league contract had he not been added to the 40-man roster. He's had a rip-roaring two months in Triple-A.

Lamb had an All-Star season with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017, blasting 30 home runs along with 105 RBIs. He spent six years with the D-Backs, but shoulder surgery unfortunately derailed his career, and he's never been able to recapture his major league magic. Since the 2018 season, he's only been able to muster a .203 average and .663 OPS.

The 31-year-old has found his power stroke, however, this year with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City, with 15 HR and 50 RBIs in just 61 games, along with an equally impressive .290 average and .932 OPS.

LA has placed Zach McKinstry on the IL to make room on the roster for Lamb.
