Diamondbacks Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated Ryan Weiss for assignment.

Weiss hasn't appeared in a game for the Diamondbacks this entire season, but he was a member of their 40-man roster. Thus, with the team selecting Dallas Keuchel's contract, they needed to open up a spot for him. This made Weiss expendable.

In 17 games split between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Weiss has a 1-0 record and 5.74 ERA. The D-Backs will now have until the end of the week to either trade or place Weiss on waivers.
