Cubs Send Pitcher Down To Triple-A
Last week, the Chicago Cubs designated Robert Gsellman for assignment. Now, after clearing waivers, the 28-year-old has accepted his demotion to Triple-A Iowa instead of becoming a free agent.
Gsellman made eight appearances for the Cubs this season, where he had a 0-2 record and sported a 4.70 ERA. Overall, it wasn't the best of starts for him, and that ultimately was enough for Chicago to remove him from their 40-man roster.
Although it is never a good feeling to be demoted, Gsellman will now be aiming to impress while with Iowa. If he does, perhaps he could land himself a call-up later in the season.
In 184 career games between the Mets and Cubs, Gsellman has a 20-18 record and 4.60 ERA.
