Cubs Release Infielder
The Cubs have released Jonathan Villar. The 31-year-old is officially a free agent again.
Villar was recently DFAed by the Cubs, and now his time with the team is officially over. It's been a rough 2022 season for the 10-year veteran, as he has two home runs, 15 RBIs, and a very low .222 batting average.
Villar's resume will likely grab the attention of other clubs, though. In 1,019 career games, he has 100 home runs, 340 RBIs, and a .256 batting average. Let's see who ends up giving him a chance from here.
