Cubs Option Pitcher
The Cubs have optioned pitcher Adrian Sampson to Triple-A Iowa.
The move comes as a result of teams having to reduce their pitching staff from 14 to 13 pitchers on Monday, as a result of the league's roster requirements.

Cubs will have a corresponding move later this afternoon to add position player.
Unfortunate news for Sampson who was great on Sunday, against Atlanta, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings, with just one hit and five strikeouts. On the season, Sampson has thrown 5.2 innings, allowing no runs and striking out five batters.
Cubs manager had high praise for Sampson:

"I had a pitching coach a long time ago tell me, 'You know a guy's got good stuff when he's getting a lot of weak contact back to him.' A lot of those today. ... He was in cruise control the entire time."
I'm sure we'll see Sampson back with the Cubs fairly soon.
