Cubs Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The Chicago Cubs have made a change to their roster, as they have designated Conner Menez for assignment.
Menez appeared in one game for the Cubs this season, where he pitched a scoreless inning. He primary has pitched for Triple-A Iowa, though. In eight games with the minor league squad, he has a 1-0 record and 2.08 ERA. Overall, he's been solid all year, but that still wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster.
The Cubs will now have to either trade or place Menez on waivers by next week. There could be some teams willing to give him a chance, and that's especially true if they are dealing with injury trouble. In 24 career games between the Giants and Cubs, he has a 2-1 record and 3.95 ERA.
