Cardinals Catcher Designated For Assignment

The St. Louis Cardinals have designated Ali Sanchez for assignment.

Sanchez has spent the entirety of this season in Triple-A but still had a spot on the Cardinals' 40-man roster. That is now set to change with this move, so St. Louis will have until the end of the week to either trade or release the young catcher.

Sanchez is a player who teams could take a chance on if they are looking for catcher depth. In seven career games between the Mets and Cardinals, he has three hits in 14 at-bats.
