Cardinals Ace To Make Season Debut
It's only been two rehab outings after a lengthy shoulder injury, but Jack Flaherty says he's felt as good as he has since 2019, and insisted he come back to start in the big leagues.
Marmol on the decision to start Flaherty tomorrow: "Everybody kind of weighed in and at the end of the day he was very adamant about increasing the intensity and not just the workload. He wanted to be able to replicate that here...he'll be our starter tomorrow." #STLCards pic.twitter.com/M382US47dp

St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol says, hey, if he's still got some work to do, might as well do it and help us at the same time. "Everybody kind of weighed in and at the end of the day he was very adamant about increasing the intensity and not just the workload. He wanted to be able to replicate that here..."
And so Flaherty will take the mound in St. Louis against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.
It'll be his first action in the majors since Oct. 3 of last year. Shoulder troubles kept him out a chunk of last season as well, when he was only able to make 15 starts. But all's trending in the right direction now, for Jack Flaherty.
