Blue Jays And Mariners Complete Trade

It didn't take long for a team to express interest in Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Ryan Borucki. After he was designated for assignment five days ago, the Seattle Mariners came a-calling, and the two teams worked out a deal, with the M's sending minor league infielder Tyler Keenan to Toronto in exchange for Borucki.

Borucki had spent his entire five-year major league career with the Jays, compiling a 4.47 ERA. He has had a lot of success against left-handed batters, however, and the Mariners get a lefty who holds same-sided hitters to a .204 average.

The Mariners have designated Mike Ford for assignment to make room for Borucki on the roster.

Keenan is a 23-year-old who plays first and third base, is currently in High-A ball where he's hitting .250 with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs in 25 games. He was a 4th-round selection in the 2020 draft, and displayed formidable exit velocities while in college.
