Athletics To Call Up Pitcher

The Oakland Athletics are calling up Jared Koenig to their major league squad. With that, the pitcher is set to make his debut during Wednesday's contest against the San Francisco Giants. 

This is massive news for Koenig, as he primarily pitched in independent leagues until last season. Now, just one year later, he is set to play in the sport's most competitive league. He deserves a lot of praise for that. 

Koenig certainly has earned this promotion, too, and the truth is in his stats this season. In nine games for Triple-A Las Vegas, he has a 4-2 record to go along with a 2.21 ERA. Let's see if he can maintain this form with the A's from here.
