Athletics Call Up Infielder
The Oakland Athletics have called up Matt Davidson to their major league roster.
Davidson signed a minor league contract with Oakland after being released by the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this campaign. In five games with the D-Backs, he had one hit (a home run) in 10 at-bats. Now, during this call-up with the A's, he will be aiming to have a bit more success at the plate. That, in turn, will help his chances of sticking around.
While in Triple-A this season, Davidson has been excellent. In 32 games between Triple-A Reno and Triple-A Las Vegas, he has a notable 15 home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .306 batting average. It will be intriguing to see if he can translate that kind of success to Oakland from here.
