The left fielder Alvarez collided with shortstop Jeremy Pena in short left field chasing a pop up during the Astros game today with the New York Mets. Both players called for the ball, and Pena caught it, but it was a thunderous collision. It appeared that Alvarez was caught with a forearm or an elbow to the head.
Pena was able to leave the field under his own strength, surprising after running into the 6'5", 225-pound Alvarez. He didn't return to the game however.
If Alvarez is forced to miss any time, it will be a big loss for the Astros.
