Angels OF Goes On IL; Former Top Prospect Recalled

The Los Angeles Angels have been forced to swap out a couple of outfielders, due to a tight hamstring that's been hampering Taylor Ward for some time now. He's been placed on the 10-day IL, while former top prospect Jo Adell is getting yet another shot at a major league job.

"Hopefully it's just going to be minimal time," said manager Joe Maddon about Ward. "It didn't indicate to me... that it's going to be more than that. But you never know."

They're certainly hoping that Ward is able to return quickly. He's merely hitting .333 with a 1.087 OPS and 10 home runs.

As for Adell, he started the season with the Angels, but was sent back down to Triple-A after hitting .215 with a .627 OPS, along with troubles in the outfield.

He went down to the minors and raked, at least for his first 40 at-bats, hitting 5 homers with a 1.032 OPS. But he's slowed down considerably lately, with only a .477 OPS in his last 40 at-bats, with one homer.

The 23-year-old Adell is a former 1st-round pick (10th overall) in the 2017 draft. He just hasn't been able to hit well enough in three tryouts at the major league level to stick.
