Angels Fire Manager
After losing 12 straight games, the Los Angeles Angels have fired manager Joe Maddon.
The Angels started the season extremely well and finally looked set to make the playoffs this year. However, this massive losing streak has resulted in them falling to a 27-29 record. With that, they now trail the first-place Houston Astros by 8.5 games. Thus, they likely will be pushing for a Wild Card spot this year instead of the division.
In response to this move, Phil Nevin will be taking over as interim manager. This is a good opportunity for the former major leaguer to show what he can do in such a large position. If the Angels turn things around under his watch, perhaps it could lead to him becoming their manager permanently. Alas, we will have to wait and see.
