Tigers Sign Outfielder
The Detroit Tigers are adding to their outfield depth, as they have signed Trayce Thompson to a minor league contract. He is set to join Triple-A Toledo from here.
Thompson was recently designated for assignment by the San Diego Padres, but he will now have the chance for a fresh start with the Tigers organization. In six games with San Diego this season, it's fair to say that he struggled, as he had just one hit in 14 at-bats.
Thompson will now be hoping to impress with Toledo so he can land himself an eventual call-up to the major league roster. It also doesn't hurt that he has a decent amount of major league experience, too. In 223 career games between the White Sox, Dodgers, Athletics, Cubs, and Padres, he has 26 home runs, 70 RBIs, and a .205 batting average.
