Tigers Provide Update On Michael Pineda

Over the weekend, Detroit Tigers pitched Michael Pineda fractured his middle finger. Although that certainly is unfortunate, manager AJ Hinch told reporters that the veteran starter does not need surgery on it. As a result of this, if all goes well with his recovery, he is expected to miss roughly a month instead of several months.

After signing a one-year deal with the Tigers, Pineda has been off to a solid start in 2022. In five appearances, he has a 1-2 record to go along with a 3.22 ERA. Thus, he is somebody who the Tigers will definitely miss in their rotation, but at least things aren't as bad as they could have been regarding his injury.

Here's to hoping that everything goes well with Pineda's recovery from here. If the Tigers are out of the playoff race as we get closer to the deadline, he is a potential trading asset for the club.
